You are sick,
And you’re married,
And you might be dying…

Took me half a year to complete 🤪
No but it’s ridiculous that this doesn’t have more notes, and I think it’s cause people aren’t zooming in, SO LOOK!! Look how painstakingly detailed and gorgeous this piece is!!
a dance with death
You know, one of the things I miss from Assassin’s Creed 1, is how philosophical it’s narrative was. It really put Altaïr in a spot of a weapon, while he was influenced by the views of both assassins and templars and that made him question the world and how it worked from perspective of rule and religion. Every assassination Altaïr performed was just another way to prove that Assassin philosophy might not be as right as Al Mualim preached it.
The Nine themselves, even if wicked people, offered certain wisdom which made Altaïr doubt his whole existence and purpose, for example Garnier de Naplouse’s “Would you better teach a child fire is hot or let them burn themselves to learn” offers such an insight on how templars preserve powers apple offers. Just as Lucy said to Desmond “Templars want a good thing, but the way they want to achieve it is very bad”
If you look at it deeper, the only templar who wanted Apple just because of power it held for control (with no other motive to back that up) always was Al Mualim - leader of the assassins.
The whole storyline is so masterfully written, I simply love it. It surely deals with war situation, with suffering, with greed and need for order, even ruthless, or chaos, even if cruel, but based on the free will, and this whole reflects to Altaïr’s person, because he starts as someone who brings ruthless order, but realises that being assassin is not about holding power, it’s about serving something that is bigger than you. Being an Assassin is not about murdering bad people, because you can, but because you must to preserve the light.
‘When you find somebody who absolutely gets you, that is a beautiful thing, and it is hard not to want to be in the presence of somebody who really, truly understands you. It’s a rare, rare thing…’ ~ Bryan Fuller
